Katie started playing the clarinet at 8 years old, and the saxophone at 12 years old. She studied for her degree at London College of Music, with clarinet tuition from Linda Merrick. She gained her LLCM Advanced Certificate on the clarinet, and Grade 8 on the saxophone.

Katie has previously taught at Berkhamsted School and for Hertfordshire Music Service, Barnet Borough Music, Enfield Arts Support Service and Harpenden Musicale, as well as privately for over 30 years and has recently relocated to Great Ayton in North Yorkshire.
